Blog 5: What United Airlines Can Do

Image
A situation such as the one United Airlines has face, it has to be understood in many different aspects due to its complexity. One thing I would suggest in the future to companies with similar scenarios, is hire a writer and a professional in Public Relations damage control. A common issue with many companies that end up in a backlash, is their response is awful A large number of scandals could be fixed with patience, and a sincere apology, and sometimes change within the organization. In United Airlines situation, it was a complete disaster that the passenger had been forcibly removed from his flight. But it wasn't just the video of the incident that made the situation a complete wreck, but it was the companies attitude towards the situation. No one cares about legality or fine lines, but they want to see action and be heard. going forward, there isn't much that United Airlines can do to better the situation but here is a lot of work to be done for them to prevent this h...

Blog 3: United Airlines PR Disaster

Image
If there is one thing anyone can agree on with PR, is that once an issue breaks, it can be really difficult to manage, making prevention better than a cure for the issue. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that United Airlines had a PR protocol for a situation similar to the one they are currently facing. The biggest issues were not only the passenger who was wrongfully injured due to being removed from United Airlines, but their PR response was the cherry on top of the storm they are facing.  First Response - Monday "This is an upsetting event to all of us here at United. I apologize for having to re-accommodate these customers. Our team is moving with a sense of urgency to work with the authorities and conduct our own detailed review of what happened. We are also reaching out to this passenger to talk directly to him and further address and resolve this situation.” – Oscar Munoz, CEO., United Airlines   Monday's response was the first official statement released by ...
